@geechartier The very smudged throat marks are more consistent with N. siamensis, and the hood mark, as far as I can make out, is not a monocle but seems to be more like a spectacle. Do you have any photos showing the hood mark more clearly?

@wolfgang_wuster, sorry, no other photos. I estimate it was about 2.5 m long, which is one reason why I chose N. kaouthia, as my reptile book says that N. siamensis doesn't grow that long.

@wolfgang_wuster, I have cropped and tried to enhance the photo of the back of the hood, which I have added to the observation, but I am sure it helps. It is not very clear.

@geechartier Looks very much like a spectacle marking. Most people, myself included, tend to overestimate snake lengths (2.5 metres would be off the charts for N. kaouthia as well!), so on the balance of probabilities, I'd still say N. siamensis.
